Though titled "Thirty-Six Views," it actually comprises 46 works, first published in the 1830s (starting in 1831). These three prints are reissues released by Japan’s Ōedo Hanga-sha (大江戸木版社) in the 1970s. 1. Sōshū Hakone Kosui (相州箱根湖水) (Series No. 8)A classic late-Edo meisho-e work, it depicts the shores of Lake Ashi in Hakone (modern-day Kanagawa Prefecture) — a mountain lake that served as a restful stop for travelers during the Edo period. 2. Honjo Tatekawa (本所立川) (Series No. 12)Another late-Edo meisho-e masterpiece, it captures the lumber yard landscape of Edo’s Honjo district (modern-day Tokyo’s Sumida Ward), offering a vivid record of urban industrial life in the Edo era. 3. Kakuta no Suisha (隠田の水車) (Series No. 15)A beloved work in the series, it portrays the waterwheel labor scene in Edo’s Kakuta district (modern-day Tokyo’s Kōtō Ward), preserving a snapshot of folk production and daily life. Japanese descriptive notes are printed on the protective paper of these three prints.
