Biography Yoshimura Horyu (1874-?) A Japanese-style painter born in Osaka. His real name was Hisakichi. He studied under Mori Nifu and belonged to the Maruyama school. He was regarded as a leading figure in the Osaka art world. He specialized in animal paintings, especially tigers, raccoon dogs, monkeys, and deer.
