The Leipzig publisher Bernhard Tauchnitz was among the most important international publishers of the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. Their
Collection of British Authors (1842-1900)
aka/ Collection of British and American Authors (1900-1943)
had 5370 titles, mostly paperbacks.
The first consistent series of clothbound Tauchnitz Editions were issued between 1909-1929, in maroon cloth with 416 titles. Among those in the first year were Oscar Wilde's 'A House of Pomegranates' .
The book is in very good condition, with a tiny fault on the cover edge, and a tiny stain on the page edges.
Gilding is full. Inside boards and pages are clenan and intact.
