Ibric pe suport și arzător - Alamă, Lemn - Victorian, circa 1880–1900
A beautifully presented late Victorian brass spirit kettle complete with its original tripod stand and removable spirit burner, crafted circa 1880–1900. This is an especially decorative example, showcasing the period’s fondness for richly embellished tableware.
The kettle features an elegant rectangular body with rounded edges, decorated with crisp repoussé floral panels and chased detailing across the shoulders. The spout is gracefully shaped with a refined upward curve, and the lid is finished with a domed ivorine knob retaining a warm, old-cream patina — a characteristic early ivory substitute used on fine Victorian accessories.
A standout feature is the sweeping overhead handle: a turned and twisted ebonised centre section mounted between geometric and spiral-twist brass supports, creating a striking contrast of textures and materials. Both ends of the handle sit within small ivorine collars, adding further refinement and visual balance. One end shows an old, stable repair, typical of age and use yet not detracting from display appeal.
The kettle sits on its original three-legged stand, designed with bold spiral-twist legs, finial feet, and an integrated fitting to hold the matching spirit burner. The burner is present with its hinged lid and wick intact.
Very good antique condition with expected signs of age: minor dents, light surface wear, and one stable handle repair. Burner and stand complete. Brass retains an attractive polished glow.
The kettle: 25x22x14cm
The stand: 20x20x18cm
