SEIKO Prospex "1965 Diver’s Re-Creation" 55th Anniversary Hi-Beat 36000 — Ref. SLA037J1 (8L55-00E0) — Limited Edition 0405/1100

Description

An exceptional opportunity for collectors of high-end horology: a Seiko Prospex 55th Anniversary "1965 Diver’s Re-Creation" (Ref. SLA037J1 / Case Ref. 8L55-00E0). Released in 2020 to celebrate 55 years of Seiko’s pioneering dive watch heritage, this model is a faithful, ultra-premium tribute to the legendary 1965 "62MAS". It bridges classic mid-century tool watch proportions with Grand Seiko-level manufacturing and cutting-edge material science.

This piece is a strictly numbered limited edition, representing number 0405 out of only 1,100 pieces produced worldwide, making it a highly coveted rarity on the secondary market.

Condition Report

General Condition: Excellent, near-mint condition. The watch has been worn only occasionally and spent the vast majority of its time securely stored in its presentation box.

Case: The front, profile, lugs, and bezel present in pristine, crisp condition with sharp edges and its original factory polishing intact.

Caseback: Shows a tiny, light superficial scratch on the polished case back section near the outer edge (visible upon close inspection, see macro photographs), otherwise immaculate with the historical dolphin emblem perfectly crisp.

Dial & Hands: Mint condition. The striking sunray blue dial and Lumibrite indicators are flawless.

Crystal: Original box-shaped sapphire crystal is entirely pristine, free of any marks or scratches.

Strap: Original blue-grey silicone "Tropic-style" strap with the original signed pin buckle, showing virtually no signs of wear.

Scarcity & Value Factors

The Shizukuishi Caliber: Unlike standard Prospex models, the SLA037 is driven by the pure-bred Caliber 8L55 Hi-Beat, which is essentially an undecorated Grand Seiko 9S85 movement, hand-assembled and adjusted alongside GS calibers by master watchmakers.

Ever-Brilliant Steel: This model was one of the very first to introduce Seiko's highly advanced steel alloy, offering a brilliant white hue and a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) value 1.7 times higher than standard 316L stainless steel.

Strict Investment Potential: With a hard limit of 1,100 pieces globally, low-number production examples like 0405 in unpolished, box-kept condition continue to enjoy strong collector demand and stable asset valuation worldwide.

Lot Notes: The watch comes as shown in the images on its original premium rubber strap. Please review the high-resolution macro photos carefully to verify the stunning cosmetic condition and the faint surface mark on the case back.
