A fine 19th-century Kashmiri lacquered wooden window panel (circa 1850–1900), produced during the Dogra Dynasty period.
Originating from the Jammu & Kashmir region, long known for its exceptional lacquer, carving and detailed decorative work.
The panel features:
Hand-carved and lacquer-decorated surfaces in traditional Kashmiri style
Intricate floral and geometric motifs with Mughal artistic influence
Qur’anic inscriptions finely executed across the frame, showing remarkable precision
Extremely detailed craftsmanship, the type produced in elite Srinagar workshops during the Dogra rule
Rich patina consistent with authentic 19th-century pieces
This panel is a rare surviving example of architectural decorative work from Dogra Dynasty Kashmir (1846–1947), a period celebrated for its refinement in lacquered wood art.
And it has very good embossing workmanship.
