The plates are finely hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue, displaying elegant garden scenes with stylised rocks, flowering branches, insects, and fenced architectural elements, typical of Kangxi-period decorative taste. The rims are enriched with a foliate (scalloped) border and a continuous floral and vine pattern, creating a harmonious and well-balanced composition. The porcelain body is of good quality, with a smooth glaze and a lively, rich blue often described as “sapphire” or “kingfisher” blue, characteristic of Kangxi blue and white wares. On the underside, each plate bears an auspicious symbol mark within a double blue circle, likely representing an artemisia leaf or lingzhi fungus. Such symbolic marks were commonly used on non-imperial wares during the Kangxi reign, following restrictions on the use of imperial reign marks.
