Beautiful ‘Simboli/Trifoglio’ stoneware vase and small bowl from the same series by Aldo Londi for Bitossi ceramics, mid-20th century. The vase measures: Height 19.5 cm. Diameter 9 cm. Weight approx. 640 grams. The bowl measures: Height 3.5 cm Diameter 13 cm Weight approx. 295 grams All relevant signatures etc. are present under the vase/bowl. Good condition with minor signs of wear, no cracks or chips. Aldo Londi was born in Montelupo (Florence) in 1911 and threw himself into the world of ceramics almost immediately. At the age of 11, he got his first job at a ceramics factory, where he immersed himself in the craft. This immersion continued even when he was a prisoner of war in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 1935 to 1943. After the war, Londi continued his work and was eventually appointed artistic director of the famous Bitossi family's ceramics workshop in Montelupo. Packed securely and shipped with insurance.
