This is an antique tea infuser spoon from my swiss grandmother, made of solid 800 silver, dating from around 1900–1920. The piece is designed in the form of a spoon with a hinged, perforated bowl, allowing loose tea leaves to be filled inside and infused directly in a teacup. The silver bears the “800” fineness mark together with a crown hallmark, typical for German silver of the late 19th / early 20th century. The interior is not gilded, which is confirmed by its silver-toned appearance. The design is simple and elegant, typical of the Jugendstil / early Art Deco period.
