London und Paris was a German cultural and fashion periodical published roughly between 1798 and 1815 in Weimar, closely associated with Friedrich Justin Bertuch's Industrie-Comptoir press. It was co-edited by Karl August Böttiger, a prominent classical scholar and journalist, known for his work on art, theatre, and antiquity. The periodical offered a blend of reports on art, theatre, fashion, and urban culture
The book contains 11 complete illustrations, most hand coloured, mainly caricatures. Although the text of this issue deals with London and Paris, the illustrations are mostly regarding London and include: The Daily Advertiser, Dundas's speech to the House of Commons; State Watchmen mistaking and attempting the arrest Honest Men for Conspirator (seen climbing up a ladder to escape); The Devil Tempting John Bull - The Tree of Liberty; The Shrine at St.Anns Hill; Opposition Telegraphs; and the Treasury Spectre (the Head of the Nation in a Queer Situation).
Each set page written in German is 19x11cm.
