The Arare pattern consists of small, raised bumps across the upper body of the kettle, a design that requires great skill in the casting process and is highly prized for its textured aesthetic. The underside of the copper lid features an inscription: "Yukawa Memorial" (湯川記念). In Japan, such inscriptions often mark significant events or honors. Given the name, it is highly likely that this piece was created as a commemorative item in the mid-20th century (around the 1950s), possibly related to Japan's first Nobel laureate, Hideki Yukawa Ph.D., or the opening of a memorial institution in his honor. This historical context makes it a unique collector's piece beyond its functional beauty. A beautiful copper lid with a rich, dark red-brown patina. The knob is elegantly shaped like a budding flower. The Arare pattern is finely executed, showing the quality of the casting. A sturdy iron handle with a classic arch. Fair to good vintage condition with authentic surface oxidation consistent with its age. It is primarily offered here as a decorative collector's item or a fine piece of Wabi-sabi art. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx.
