Heavy cast antique silver candlesticks with beautiful decoration on the base and middle of the stem. This pair of George III candlesticks, having octagonal bodies, with bright engraving with foliate panels, vase-shaped sockets and detachable drip pans. Made in London, 1795 (230 years old) Made by John Israel Fully English hallmarked for sterling 925 silver. The dimensions of this fine pair of hand-made antique silver candlesticks are: Length 31 cm (12.2 inch) Wide at base 13.5 x 13.5 cm (5.3 inch) Approx. 621 + 634 = 1255 grams / 40.5 troy ounces / oz (bobèches weigh 95 grams together). Condition: These antique cast silver candlesticks are a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The decoration is all very sharp. They have a lovely initial on the base, HL and both have an empty cartouché on the base. What makes this pair even more interesting is that they have a number on the scone, number 2 and 8. On the top of the candlesticks they have the number 7 and 1. So it is likely that this was a set of at least 8 but might have been divided over family's in the past?
