Enrico Camporese - Burano Facades

BURANO FACADES 45x30 cm glicée photograph printed with pigment ink on Hahnemüle Photo Silk Baryta paper, stamped on the left and hand-signed on the back of the photograph. The use of Hahnemüle paper combined with pigment ink guarantees museum-quality workmanship, allowing it to remain unchanged over time. Burano is part of a photographic study in which the urban landscape and vernacular architecture are treated as visual devices, straddling the line between documentation and abstraction. The façades of the houses – traditionally perceived as postcard images of Burano – are reduced here to clear fields of colour: pink, yellow, blue and green construct a geometric rigour that dialogues with the language of contemporary design. Within this chromatic grid, the Renaissance-style female portraits placed on the doors introduce a further level of interpretation: the pictorial past of Europe enters the image as a ghostly presence, suspended between interior and exterior. Enrico Camporese was born in Venice-Italy. From 1965 ti 1970 he began working as a trade union-news photojournalist , documenting the political and social events of the period. Thanks to his photographs, he occasionally collaborated with the weekly italian magazines Il Mondo and L’Espresso. In August of 1970, he decided to leave for Ireland. In Belfast he documented the outcomes of the daily conflict between Catholics and Protestants. In September of the same year, in Venice, he cofounded INTERMEDIA, an advertising agency, together with five other colleagues. In 1975 he opened his own communication agency, PubbliCA, which, later became PubbliCA & Associati. For about twenty years the agency was involved in advertising communication, collaborating and creating campaigns for Veneto companies of national and international importance. Well known brands of Murano glasswork masters rely on PubbliCA for their catalogues and advertising page. Since 2020 Enrico Camporese has dedicated himself exclusively to art photography PHOTOGRAPHY SOLO EXIBITIONS 2020 LUOGHI SPARSI - Tra realtà e metafisica - 24 fotografie in bianco e nero e a colori, presso DOFMA S.r.l.
