Vernon, with an introduction from G. K. Chesterton. The works feature a collection of charming and popular fables credited to Aesop, a Greek storyteller and fabulist whose tales were characterised by the anthropomorphic animal characters. During the "Golden Age" of British book illustration Rackham was one of its leading artists. He used expressive line with a subtle washes of watercolour to create his beautiful images. The first edition is in the original publisher's decorative cloth. Very solid bright green cloth cover with gilt decoration to the front and spine.
