Burk - Porslin - Qing-dynastins kruka
A Qing Dynasty finely decorated Chinese blue and white porcelain jar (height 18cm, diameter 13cm, 1033g) featuring a lively depiction of mythical qilin running among stylized clouds and scrolling foliage. The body is painted in underglaze cobalt blue on a white ground. The decoration is arranged in horizontal registers, with a key-fret band along the rim, a floral band at the shoulder, and a geometric border near the foot.
The central scene shows two dynamic qilin rendered in expressive brushwork, surrounded by cloud motifs symbolizing auspiciousness and prosperity in Chinese culture. The energetic painting and deep cobalt tones create a striking visual contrast against the white porcelain body.
The jar stands on a slightly recessed foot with an unglazed foot rim showing natural kiln marks typical of traditional firing methods. The base and glaze display small firing spots and imperfections consistent with historic production.
This type of decorative jar was commonly used for storage of tea, spices, or as a decorative object in the scholar’s studio.
Condition:
Good overall condition with normal minor wear consistent with age. No major cracks or restorations observed.
Shipping: very careful packing, PostNL, track and trace
