Chinese Porcelain Cabinet Vase - "The Four Immortals" - Republic Period Style - 25 cm - mid-20th Century
Description:
An elegant Chinese porcelain cabinet vase decorated in the traditional Qianjiang Cai style, dating to the mid-20th century. This baluster-shaped vase features a rare and complete narrative cycle consisting of four distinct hand-painted scenes, each depicting a legendary figure (likely from the "Eight Immortals" or "Wu Shuang Pu" chronicles).
Each figure is accompanied by fine vertical columns of black ink calligraphy, typical of the "Scholar's Porcelain" tradition. The scenes include classic Taoist symbolism, such as the pine tree (longevity) and the flute. The execution of the figures shows refined detail in the facial expressions and the traditional robes.
Origin: China, Jingdezhen.
Period: Mid-20th Century (ca. 1950-1970).
Technique: Overglaze polychrome enamels with hand-painted details and calligraphy.
Dimensions: Height 25 cm.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations. The base shows natural age-related residue from an old export label.
