余炎
Charcoal, clay, ochre and ink on canvas
100cm x 140cm (39 inches x 55 inches)
余炎 (Yoen) — meaning “lingering flame” in Japanese — is a meditation on the afterglow of fire, the warmth that persists once the blaze has subsided. In this painting, contemporary artist VITYRA captures the moment where intensity dissolves into memory, where heat no longer consumes but instead radiates softly through air and skin.
Measuring 100 cm x 140 cm, the work is composed of ochre, clay, charcoal, and ink. Its surface burns with tonal gradations — deep embers sinking into shadow, luminous oranges diffusing into pale warmth, and sudden voids of black where light has retreated. The forms drift between dissolution and ignition, never fixed, like smoke caught in twilight.
余炎 (Yoen) speaks of impermanence: the beauty not of the fire itself, but of what remains when it has passed. In its stillness is both fragility and strength, the paradox of what fades yet endures.
As with all works by VITYRA, the piece exists within the philosophy of wabi-sabi — embracing transience, incompletion, and the quiet dignity of what is vanishing. 余炎 is a flame already gone, yet endlessly remembered in its trace.
This original painting by VITYRA is discreetly hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. VITYRA is represented by S-Gallery, a well-known gallery for Viennese boundary-pushing contemporary artists. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube—an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm, with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching. Frame placement is lightly marked on the back to assist precise mounting.
