The blend is based on malt whiskies aged for at least 12 years, distilled at the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, which bring out Suntory's characteristic sweet and fruity aromas. To enhance the flavor profile, whiskies aged over 30 years are also included, making the palate rounder, more mellow, and imparting a profound sense of maturity. It was first launched in 1989 to commemorate Suntory's 90th anniversary and is considered the predecessor to the Hibiki 12 Year Old.
