- - About The Artist - -
Kev Munday crafts vibrant, utopian worlds and invites viewers to step inside and explore. Inspired by the energy of everyday life and the people within it, his work celebrates the beauty in the ordinary, transforming it into something extraordinary. His art speaks to all ages, sparking curiosity and imagination in those who engage with it.
Munday’s paintings are alive with characters, creatures and hidden surprises. Every piece is packed with rich details waiting to be discovered and interpreted by the viewer. His signature style—bold black outlines and vivid block colours—creates an electrifying visual impact. Perhaps best known for his iconic crowd paintings, Munday captures a sea of unique individuals, each one distinct yet forming a powerful collective. His work is a vibrant tribute to diversity, illustrating the strength and beauty of community.
Munday’s artistic journey began in the early 2000s as a teenage graffiti artist, leaving his mark on urban spaces through street art, stickers, and paste-ups. A suggestion from a fellow artist led him to experiment with canvas, where he found a new home for his creativity. His street art roots remain integral to his practice today, with spray paint and marker lines infusing his work with raw energy. Whether adorning gallery walls or revitalising public spaces, his art remains accessible and engaging.
His work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as The Royal Academy of Arts, The Arnolfini and The Hayward Gallery, and he is frequently invited to paint live at international art fairs and events, including The Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam and London Fashion Week. With recent solo exhibitions across Europe and Asia, Munday’s reach continues to expand globally.
In 2019, he collaborated with IKEA to release a highly detailed colouring poster in his signature style, selling over 30,000 copies worldwide. His work extends beyond traditional art spaces, often studied in schools worldwide. Teachers and students alike engage with his art as a tool for creativity, reinforcing his belief that art is not just to be observed but to be interacted with, explored and brought to life.
