Many plants received their first publication on the pages, and the description given was enhanced by the keenly detailed illustrations. William Bertram Turrill (1890 – 1961) was an English botanist. He worked in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and was responsible for many innovations including a mathematical classification of leaf shapes.
