Biedermeier - Sockerskål - 12 Loth silver
19th century German silver sugar bowl, 12-loth silver, fire-gilded interior.
A footed, two-handled Biedermeier piece of elegant proportions, decorated with fine hand chasing. The body is richly adorned with scrolling floral ornament executed in deep engraving and chasing, producing a vivid contrast of matte and polished surfaces. This refined decoration is characteristic of German silversmith workshops of the mid-19th century, likely Southern Germany or Saxony.
In a central cartouche, a noble coat of arms: in the shield a boat, surmounted by a crowned helmet with a crescent and rose crest. The boat motif identifies it with the Polish Łodzia clan arms, while the crescent-and-rose crest represents a family-specific variant, pointing to a personal noble commission.
