Ancient Egypt Goose faience amulet - 2 cm

This ancient Egyptian goose amulet, dating from the Late Period (722-332 BC), is made of faience, a glazed ceramic material characteristic of Egyptian art, appreciated for its intense blue-green color. With small dimensions (2 cm high, 1.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm long), the piece stands out for its meticulous workmanship and excellent state of preservation. The goose was an animal with great symbolic meaning in ancient Egypt, frequently associated with the god Geb, deity of the earth and fertility. In Egyptian iconography, these amulets were believed to provide protection, abundance and prosperity to their wearer. In addition, the goose played an important role in Egyptian cosmogony, since in some myths it was considered linked to the "Great Primordial Goose", which laid the egg from which the creative sun emerged. These amulets were used both in everyday life and in funerary contexts, where they were placed with the deceased to ensure their well-being in the afterlife. Similar examples have been found in excavations of temples and tombs, evidencing their relevance within Egyptian religious beliefs. Faience objects with representations of birds have been found in sites such as Saqqara, Thebes and the Nile Delta, and comparable pieces can be seen in collections at the British Museum, the Louvre and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Acquired from a Spanish private collection, F.C.B in the 70's. - The piece includes an authenticity certificate. The Seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally. Important information.
