The design features: Text reading "PIETATE ET MITIA" (By Piety and Mercy) around the central motif. A central shield displaying three fleurs-de-lis, representing the House of Habsburg's claim to France. The phrase "pietate et mitia" is a Latin expression that is associated with Freemasonry, It translates generally to "with piety and gentleness" or "by means of piety and mildness." These principles include: Belief in a Supreme Being: Masons are required to believe in a God, and the concept of "piety" (reverence for God) aligns with this core requirement. Moral and Ethical Conduct: The fraternity encourages its members to practice virtues like the Golden Rule and build a better world and a better self, which resonates with the idea of "gentleness" and mildness in their interactions and conduct. It's for Display only please, good condition for an age. *First type and most valuable A “chapter” or “mark” masonic coin (or penny) signified a pivotal part of a Mason's initiation. *A second type of Masonic coin is the “initiation token,” which shows when a Brother was initiated, passed, and raised into the Brotherhood. * The third type is a token which celebrates a particular mason, lodge, or event Whenever you want to enter secret Ceremony this coin will open most of the doors for you… This token/coin was used while Freemasons was traveling abroad, mostly across the Ocean where they as per usual was trading with other nations.
