CIJ - Spielzeugauto - Renault Viva Grand Sport, Boxed With Provenance - 1940-1950 - Frankreich

Toy manufacturer The Toy Industry Company (CIJ) is a manufacturer of miniature toys created in 1920 by Fernand Mignault (Rue de la Roquette in Paris). Due to the success of CIJ and the need to expand, Fernand Mignault, a good salesman and manager, partnered with his cousin Marcel Gourget, an excellent technician who was running a workshop in metalworking on the Ousson road in Briare, thus founding Mignault Establishments S.A. in 1927. Under the agreements signed with André Citroën in 1922, the company exclusively manufactured tin and wooden toys at a 1/10 scale, including the 5 CV Trèfle and the B14 Citroën. These miniatures were distributed by Citroën dealerships. However, it was forbidden for CIJ to mention the brand in its advertisements. The agreement and the manufacturing of Citroën miniatures ceased in 1934 following the company's bankruptcy and when the Michelin family took control of Citroën. A more flexible agreement was later made with Louis Renault, and many models of Renault miniature vehicles, made of lithographed sheet metal and Zamak, at scales ranging from 1/10 to 1/43, are produced. However, CIJ must now sell its own production. This agreement was terminated when the Renault Dauphine was released because the CIJ model was delayed too much and also faced quality issues (the first version of Dauphine was made of lithographed sheet metal, the second with glazing). Description : This is a Renault Viva Sport Rouge toy and its mannequin. It includes the key used to wind the spring and the toy cardboard box from France. The driver's door opens. State : In normal wear and tear, a few rust spots on the bodywork. Character present.
