Glockenschrein - Bronze, Buddhistischer Bronzeglocke aus einem Tempel, etwa 100-150 Jahre alt. - 1850-1900 - Buddhistischer Tempelgong 梵鐘

This is a temple bell from about 100-150 years ago. It is thought to date from the Meiji period. When you strike the bell, it makes a beautiful sound. Bonshō (梵鐘, Buddhist bells), also known as tsurigane (釣り鐘, hanging bells) or ōgane (大鐘, great bells) are large bells found in Buddhist temples throughout Japan, used to summon the monks to prayer and to demarcate periods of time. (From Wikipedia) A Bonshō (梵鐘) is a bell that hangs in the bell tower of a temple and is rung by striking it with a clapper. It is a Buddhist ritual instrument used in temples in East Asia, known for its heavy and resonant sound. Bonshō is also referred to as the "gathering bell (集会鐘, shūeishō)," and it is struck 30 minutes or 1 hour before the start of ceremonies or rituals as a signal for the congregation to assemble. Additionally, to welcome the new year with a fresh mindset by dispelling worldly desires, it is struck 108 times, representing the same number as the worldly desires. Due to its loud sound, Bonshō is also called "geishō" or "hōshō" in some cases. Height 16.0 cm Width 9.8 cm Depth 10.1 cm Weight 810 g Condition: The condition is generally good.
