Edo-Zeit Holz polychromiertes Amida Buddha-Triptychon - Stehende Statuen-Set (阿弥陀如来三尊立像) - Holz - Japan - Edo-Zeit (1600-1868)

Item Description This is an exquisite set of wooden polychrome Amida Nyorai Sanzon Ritsuzo (Amida Buddha Triad Standing Statues) from the Edo period. The triad consists of the central Amida Buddha flanked by two attendant bodhisattvas (Kannon and Seishi), all standing on lotus pedestals. The central Amida Buddha statue displays the characteristic serene expression and meditative mudra associated with this deity, who represents infinite light and life in Pure Land Buddhism. The figure is carved with flowing robes that cascade elegantly down the body, demonstrating the skilled craftsmanship of Edo period Buddhist sculptors. The polychrome decoration, though showing signs of age, retains its spiritual presence and historical authenticity. The two attendant bodhisattvas stand gracefully on either side, each with distinct iconographic features. Their poses and gestures complement the central figure, creating a harmonious compositional balance typical of Amida Triad representations. The original polychrome finish adds depth and spiritual gravitas to these sacred sculptures. These statues would have originally been enshrined in a Buddhist temple or personal altar (butsudan) for devotional purposes. The Amida Triad is one of the most popular Buddhist iconographic compositions in Japan, particularly venerated in Pure Land Buddhism traditions. This set represents an authentic example of Edo period Buddhist sculpture, offering collectors a significant piece of Japanese religious art history. Size Central Amida Buddha: Width: 15.5 cm Depth: 11.4 cm Height: 38.1 cm Each Attendant Bodhisattva: Width: 7.8 cm Depth: 7.6 cm Height: 23.1 cm Condition The statues show age-appropriate wear consistent with Edo period pieces, including surface abrasions and minor chips. The polychrome decoration displays natural aging patina. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone.
