Signed Kinkōzan - Weihrauchkessel - Keramik, Gold, Emaille, Ein Satsuma-Opferkeramik mit Flussufer-Szene und Wisterien-Dekoration.
A globular Satsuma ceramic kōro (incense burner), raised on three feet and decorated in the round with a lively scene of everyday life along a riverbank, animated by numerous geisha and figures.
The composition is enriched by flowering wisteria trees, whose cascading branches elegantly extend across the upper part of the decoration.
Pierced lid. Signed Kinkōzan under the base.
Satsuma ware is one of the finest expressions of Japanese ceramics. Originating from the ancient province of Satsuma (now Kagoshima), it was produced as early as the Edo period (1603–1868) using low-temperature firing, which gives it the characteristic surface with craquelure and vibrant decorations.
---The koro is in very good condition with light wear of the enamels and gilding. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
