"Miuraya Agemaki" - 1858 - Utagawa Kunisada (1785-1865) - Japan - Edo-Zeit (1600-1868) (Ohne mindestpreis)
This is an original hand-carved woodblock print of the illustrations for the combined scroll "Miura Zenyo-kan" by the ukiyo-e master Utagawa Toyokuni (the first generation), created around 1810 during the Bunka period of the Edo period. It is a classic masterpiece in the field of ukiyo-e collecting. Utagawa Toyokuni (the first generation, whose signature includes "Kyokutei Kokusada") was a master ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo period (Kyowa to Bunsei era of the Edo Shogunate) and a core representative of the golden age of ukiyo-e. His creative trajectory and artistic style were deeply intertwined with the social background and cultural trends of the Edo period. His fame and achievements were not only due to his personal talent but also to the artistic monument created by the era. Combined with the "Miura Zenyo-kan" bijin-e (a masterpiece of the Bunka period in 1810) in the collection, Utagawa Toyokuni was born in Meiwa 6 and died in Bunsei 8. Born in the late Edo period, during its golden age and the peak of ukiyo-e art, Toyokuni Utagawa's life was deeply influenced by the social characteristics of this era, which directly shaped his artistic style and subject matter.
This woodblock print, hand-carved and hand-folded by Toyokuni Utagawa, is a testament to the art form. Each color in the print requires a separate woodblock carving, and each block is printed individually by hand, resulting in naturally blended colors and handcrafted lines—the very essence of ukiyo-e craftsmanship. Size: 35 x 24 cm.
