竹内栖鳳 Takeuchi Seiho (1864-1942) A pre-war Japanese painter. At the age of 17, he entered the private school of Kōno Burei of the Maruyama-Shijō school. He began to show promise from this time, and the following year became head of crafts at the private school, coming to be known as the foremost among the “Four Heavenly Kings of Burei” (referring to the four foremost disciples: Seiho, Tuji Kako, Taniguchi Kōkyō, and Kikuchi Hobun). A leading master representing the pre-war Kyoto art world. Imperial Household Artist.
