Beth-El. Ehrentempel verdienter ungarischer Israeliten by Ignaz Reich Pest (Budapest), Alois Bucsánsky, 2nd expanded edition, 1867–1868 German-language biographical reference work dedicated to distinguished Hungarian Israelites, documenting prominent figures of the Hungarian Jewish community in the 19th century. This copy consists of two volumes bound together in one. The work is richly illustrated with portrait plates: six portraits in the first volume and eight portraits in the second volume, each protected by original tissue guards. In addition, the book includes a fold-out plate titled “A magyar ifjú Izrael, 1868” (The Young Hungarian Israel) presenting a group tableau of the younger generation. Binding: Publisher’s half-cloth binding with gilt decoration to spine and boards (now worn); gilt page edges. Condition: Binding worn and loose, corners rubbed; spine started; interior pages in good condition overall, with noticeable spotting to the pages in places. Plates complete; tissue guards preserved. Scarce 19th-century Judaica and Hungarica publication, of interest to collectors of Central European Jewish history.
