Italien. Cutty Sark 24 carat gold finished over silver (Ohne mindestpreis)
Silver gold finished relief engraved in silver 8x5cm, framed 17.5x14.5 cm,
The Cutty Sark, built in Scotland in 1869, was one of the last and fastest tea clippers designed for sail-powered navigation. During its golden age, it stood out in the competitive trade routes between China and London, although it reached its true peak of glory in the Australian wool trade, where it set speed records that were unsurpassed for its time. Its name, inspired by a Scottish poem, and its aerodynamic design made it a symbol of 19th-century naval engineering.
After decades of service under different flags (including the Portuguese flag under the name Ferreira), the ship was rescued and restored in the 20th century. Today, it is preserved as a museum ship in Greenwich, London, standing as the only clipper of its kind to have survived to the present day. Despite suffering a devastating fire in 2007, it was meticulously restored and remains a historic monument representing the end of the era of great sailing ships and the rise of steam power.
