This is a rare doll JDK (Kestner) "Daisy". She is marked "Made in Germany 171" One of the cornerstones of any great doll collection must include a version of the famous Daisy. Daisy is a doll that was awarded to young girls as a premium for selling 3 subscriptions and paying $4.50 to the Ladies Home Journal in 1911. There were a total of 26,000 dolls made. The original order was for 5,000 dolls to be made by the JD Kestner doll company in Germany. This doll was a Kestner 171 head with a composition body. Other Daisies were produced by Simon & Halbig for Heinrich Handwerck. This is the more desirable Kestner “Daisy. Her bisque head has no damages or repairs. Blue sleeping eyes. Original antique mohair wig is a little bit dusty. Original articulated body with a stamp. The tires are loose. Original (?) dress and hat. Original shoes. The doll is 18 inch tall (cca 46 cm) tall.
