4x traditionelle Kokeshi-Puppen - Holz - Japan - Shōwa Zeit (1926-1989)

This is a carefully curated set of four traditional Japanese kokeshi dolls, likely belonging to the Naruko-kokeshi tradition, one of the most iconic schools of kokeshi making in Japan. Each doll is hand-turned from solid wood and finished with warm, natural pigments dominated by red, green, and black—colors characteristic of Naruko-style kokeshi. The expressive yet minimalist faces, with softly arched eyebrows and gentle eyes, convey a calm and nostalgic charm that appeals strongly to collectors of Japanese folk art. The bodies feature a variety of classic painted motifs, including floral patterns and rhythmic horizontal striping, showing subtle differences in size, proportion, and decoration. This variation suggests that the set was assembled to showcase diversity within the same stylistic lineage rather than being mass-produced. Natural aging, surface wear, and patina are present and consistent with genuine vintage pieces, enhancing their authenticity and character. These kokeshi dolls are well suited for display as a group, offering visual rhythm through graduated sizes, while each piece also stands beautifully on its own. They make an excellent addition to a collection of Japanese folk crafts or a refined interior with an appreciation for wabi-sabi aesthetics. Based on the painting style, materials, and overall condition, this set is estimated to date from the mid-Shōwa period (Shōwa era, circa 1950s–1970s). Size Small doll: approx. H15 × W4 × D4 cm, 81 g Medium doll (left): approx. H18 × W5 × D5 cm, 126 g Medium doll (right): approx. H18.5 × W5 × D5 cm, 114 g Large doll: approx.
