Enso is a type of Zen calligraphy and painting in which a circle is drawn
with a single stroke.
In Zen Buddhism, the round shape is drawn as an image of enlightenment.
It represents the complete harmony of the mind.
◯Muichimotsu 無一物 / There's nothing to cling to
not having anything. There is nothing.
A Zen term that refers to a state of being free from all earthly desires.
◯Yoshida Shodo 吉田正道 (1940-) /
Also known as “栢樹庵 Hakujuan”.
Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1940.
At the age of 12, he was ordained at “Hokoji Temple 宝光寺” in Aichi Prefecture.
In 1987, he became the 7th abbot of the “Kenchoji School 建長寺派”.
He cultivated a generous style of Zen in Kamakura 鎌倉, a place distinct from Kyoto 京都.
There are small stains and wrinkles.
This is an antique item.
