This captivating semi-abstract winter landscape evokes the legendary slopes of the Dachstein massif in the Austrian Alps. A vivid frozen river or stream dominates the foreground, its icy surface fractured into bold mosaic-like patches of pink, yellow, orange and blue – reflecting the drama of the surrounding landscape. Snow-laden alpine trees frame both sides of the composition, while a solitary red-roofed alpine cabin nestles beneath a brilliant turquoise mountain in the middle distance.
