The provided image is an architectural engraving showing the elevation of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. The facade and the majestic dome of the Basilica, including sections of the colonnade on St. Peter's Square. This specific plate was part of the Florence edition of Ferrario's work, published by Vincenzo Batelli around 1843. The series was a massive undertaking, eventually spanning over 30 volumes and documenting the history, religion, and arts of all world cultures known at the time.

The Engraver: While "Corsi" is the surname signed on the plate (often appearing as Corsi inc. for incidit, meaning "he engraved it"), he was one of several skilled collaborators Ferrario employed to create the 1,600+ plates required for the series. Corsi was also responsible for other architectural plates in the collection, including cross-sections of the Basilica and other world landmarks like Hagia Sophia.
