Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
A nicely sized Futagawa ware 二川焼 stoneware pot with a deep, rounded body rising from a short foot.
The vessel is covered in a crackled cream glaze and freely brushed in black underglaze with stylised pine trees, a motif characteristic of this kiln.
Futagawa ware 二川焼 was produced in Futagawa, Miike District, Chikugo Province (present-day Fukuoka Prefecture). Established toward the end of the Edo period by the potter Yonezō, who was associated with Yumino ware, it continued the tradition of jars decorated with pine motifs. Production ceased around the end of the Second World War.
Period: Japan – Around 1900 (Late Meiji period)
Dimensions: Height 23 cm, Diameter 30 cm
Weight: 3.4 kg
In good original condition, with minor traces of wear and firing irregularities consistent with age and type, including small firing cracks, chips to the foot ring, and areas of glaze loss. Please refer to the photographs for a clear impression of the condition.
The pot will come with an old tomobako storage box (in poor condition) with some original inscriptions on washi paper to the side.
When shipped, this item will come with a certificate of authenticity.
