Ben Frost’s irreverent, Pop-inspired paintings, prints, and merchandise (including pillows, T-shirts, and more) satirize contemporary consumer culture. Frost redesigns prescription drug packaging with images of well-known cartoon characters and overlays familiar iconography—the McDonald’s arches, for example, or the American flag—with movie-villain visages. The Australian artist has exhibited in London, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Berlin, and Miami, and he has collaborated with fashion designers and brands including Moschino and Carolina Herrera. Frost’s confrontational artmaking attacks and subverts the numbing entertainments that advertising can provide.
