A rare signed first edition in excellent condition by the well known Dutch photographer Marrie Bot.

The book title translates into "Last Greeting: Funeral and mourning rituals in multicultural Netherlands about death photography." In "Een Laatste Groet", Marrie Bot offers a compelling glimpse into how death is dealt with in the multicultural Netherlands. It is the result of years of photography and extensive research. Between 1990 and 1998, the photographer attended over 100 funerals and documented the rituals of Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and non-religious Dutch people. She captures both traditional and recently developed customs in captivating black and white images. She also photographed the rituals surrounding the burial of the deceased among Surinamese Creoles, Cape Verdeans, Surinamese Hindus, Chinese, and Pakistani, Iranian, and Surinamese traditional Javanese Muslims living in the Netherlands.

Condition Fine hardcover in fine dustjacket. Black cloth with gold titles, in as new condition, tight binding, interior clean and unmarked, no stains. Beautifully signed by the photographer in black ink on the title page. Dustjacket without tears, almost no signs of handling.
