Rarere Bleibulla des Malteserordens (S.M.O.M.) – Sec. XVII/XVIII– Kommende-Siegel

Rarissimo Siegel aus Blei (Bulla) des Ordens Jesu Christi von Jerusalem (Malteser Ritter). Dieses Relikt steht als historische Zeugenschaft für die administrative und wohltätige Macht des Ordens im Mittelmeerraum und in seinen europäischen Kommenden.

Symbolik: Die Kreuz mit zwei Balken (Patriarchal- oder Ankerkreuz) wurde häufig von den hohen Hierarchien des Ordens verwendet und prägte sich in den monumentalen Darstellungen ihrer Stätten ab.

Die Figuren: Die drei knienden Figuren stellen die Armen oder Kranken dar, die vom Orden betreut wurden; die Mission des Ordens war in erster Linie die "Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum" (Verteidigung des Glaubens und Hilfe den Armen).

Inschrift: Die Legende "DEI · DIVIN..." bezieht sich auf die Göttliche Vorsehung, spirituelle Säule der hospitaller Ritter.

Material: Blei mit ursprünglicher grau-brauner Patina.

Besondere Merkmale: Orig. rote Seidenkordeln, die institutionelle Farbe des Malteserordens, ausgezeichnet erhalten. Das Seidenfaden deutet darauf hin, dass das Siegel an ein hochrangiges Dokument angebracht war (Diplom, Investitur oder magistrale Bulle).

Extremely rare lead seal (bulla) belonging to the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem (Knights of Malta). This artifact stands as a historical testament to the administrative and charitable authority of the Order within the Mediterranean and its European Commanderies.

Iconography & Symbolism:
The Cross: The two-barred cross (Patriarchal or Anchored Cross) was frequently employed by the high hierarchies of the Order and featured prominently in the monumental architecture of their estates.

The Figures: The three kneeling figures represent the poor or the infirm under the Order's care, reflecting their core mission: "Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum" (Defense of the Faith and Assistance to the Poor).

Inscription: The legend "DEI · DIVIN..." refers to Divine Providence, a spiritual pillar of the Knights Hospitaller.

Technical Details:
Material: Lead with an original grey-brown patina.

Key Feature: Original red silk cords, the institutional color of the Order of Malta, perfectly preserved. The use of silk indicates that the seal was originally attached to a high-status document, such as a diploma, an investiture, or a magisterial bull.
