Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Up for auction is a premium, beautifully preserved set of two fossil shark teeth from an old, private German collection. Both specimens originate from the historically famous and highly sought-after locality "Doberg bei Buende" in Germany, dating back to the Upper Oligocene (Tertiary period).
The large tooth (55g) is an impressively large and robust specimen for this European locality, measuring a substantial 9 cm in length. The enamel of the crown is beautifully preserved with a natural, glossy patina. The root is strong and well-defined, showing distinct lateral cusplets (side cusps) typical for this species. It shows honest, natural minor drying lines in the root, showcasing its raw fossil nature.
The small tooth (5g) is a lovely, sharp lateral tooth featuring an intense, vibrant yellowish-honey coloration that perfectly contrasts with the larger specimen.
Condition and Authenticity Note:
Both teeth are 100% natural and completely unrestored. There is absolutely no restoration, no glue, no artificial coloration, and no composites used.
The lot comes complete with the original typewritten vintage collector's label ("Tertiaer / oberes Oligozaen / Doberg bei Bunde / Haifischzahn"). Since digging at the Doberg has been strictly prohibited for a long time due to its nature reserve status, teeth of this size and pedigree rarely appear on the market
