Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung

Image showing an Arab man praying outdoor. By Otto Schoefft, with his imprint on the reverse. Photographs by Schoefft – who in his early career was in partnership with Anton Schier and later with Carlo Naya – are relatively scarce compared to other works done by European photographers active in Egypt. Rare is also the format of this piece which is just slightly smaller than a cabinet card.
AGE: c. 1870s
PROCESS: albumen print, mounted in the rare Victoria format
DIMENSIONS: 13 x 8.5 cm
CONDITION: very good, exactly as illustrated in the scans.

Austro-Hungarian photographer Otto Schoefft (1833–1900), ran a studio in Alexandria, and from 1868 onwards in Cairo, that produced genre scenes and portraits, between the late 1860s and early 1870s. Schoefft produced also landscape and architectural photos for the Vienna Universal Exhibition in 1873, commissioned by the Vice King of Egypt.
