A beautiful and authentic antique Japanese samurai sword handle (Tsuka), featuring a matching set of Fuchi (collar) and Kashira (pommel) with a highly auspicious motif.

Motif & Symbolism:
The design showcases a beautiful waterscape titled "Oshidori on the Water". The Kashira depicts a pair of Mandarin ducks (Oshidori), which are traditional Japanese symbols of eternal love, marital harmony, and good fortune. The Fuchi beautifully complements this by depicting flowing water currents and floating waterweeds, completing the serene aquatic scene.

The authentic ray skin foundation has aged beautifully, acquiring a rich, deep caramel patina that only time can create.

Tsuka-ito (Wrapping):

The traditional dark-colored diamond wrap (Hishi-maki) is still intact, showing a wonderful antique character and the actual history of being handled by a samurai.

The wrapping cord on the handle is broken.
As an authentic historical item, it shows expected signs of age and use. There is some wear, minor fraying on the Tsuka-ito (wrapping), and an aged patina on the metal and ray skin. Please examine the photos carefully to judge the condition for yourself.
