A limited Single Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Annandale Distillery, bottled exclusively for 21Whisky.

This Private Cask Release comes from Cask #350, an S.T.R.-treated Burgundy red wine cask. Only 310 bottles were produced from this single cask.

Cask #350

The cask has a particularly interesting history. Before being used for whisky maturation, it spent at least seven years at a winery in Burgundy, France, where red wine matured in the oak.

At the end of 2016, the cask underwent an S.T.R. treatment – Shaved, Toasted and Re-charred – at a Spanish bodega. This process exposes and rejuvenates the oak, increasing interaction between the wood and the spirit during maturation.

In March 2017, Cask #350 was filled at Annandale Distillery with their peated spirit. The whisky subsequently matured for more than five years before being bottled in Scotland in October 2022.

It was bottled at an impressive 60.3% ABV, preserving the powerful character of this single cask.

Flavour profile

The combination of peated Annandale spirit and the S.T.R. Burgundy red wine cask creates a distinctive profile with:

* Fresh fruit, including apple and grape
* Vanilla
* Sweet toffee and caramel
* Light pepper
* Gentle smoke
* Red-wine and oak influences

Despite its high bottling strength, the whisky is characterised by a surprisingly approachable character.
