Before announcing the end of car production in Brazil on the 11th, Ford made history by manufacturing models such as the Corcel, Maverick and Escort here. Among all the brand's national cars, the Escort XR3 Pace Car is one of the rarest and most collectible. Its first appearance took place precisely at Ayrton Senna's debut as a Formula 1 driver , at the 1984 Brazilian GP, ​​held on March 25 of that year..In the race held at the Jacarepaguá circuit (RJ), which Senna abandoned on the eighth lap due to mechanical problems, the Escort was the "godmother car" - responsible for providing medical assistance to the drivers if necessary.


Taking advantage of a commercial association with FOCA (Formula One Constructors Association), and the big publicity of the F1 Brazil GP that was held in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro, Ford introduced the Escort XR3 as a "car-godmother" in the proof and launched the special series Escort XR3 Pace Car. - Only Diamond White with two-tone blue side bands with the inscription "Pace Car Formula 1 Brazil" in white, adding the "Formula 1" emblem in blue on the cap rear, in the same font of the letter "Escort XR3" on the trunk lid and "Ford Motorsport" sticker.

Ford decided to take advantage of the event to launch a limited special series of the XR3, which was sold as an official replica of the car's sponsor. The Escort XR3 Formula 1 Pace Car had only 30 units manufactured, being one of the rarest special versions produced in Brazil.

Less than half of them have their whereabouts known, and this is possibly the only well preserved car currently on sale.

Body & Paint:

The bodywork and paintwork are in very good condition , The vehicle has just had a professional body polish and detailing , There is no rust and the vehicle was fully restored around 6 years ago and has then been kept indoors in a private collection , the vehicle rubbers are all in excellent condition

Technical:

Mechanically this car is very good , The vehicle has been off the road as part of a collection so we will do an oil and filter service and check all the brakes and levels before collection . The brakes work perfectly fine as also does the clutch The engine is dry with no oil or water leaks . It has no problem on starting warm or cold . . Mechanically this car has no issues It is a 1983 Ford XR3 and is consistent of its Era

Interior:

The interior is full standard 1983 standard XR3 with the addition of a fire extinguisher behind the dash board , take a careful look at the pictures as we have taken many , you can see the dashboard has some small cracking due to sun which is common on cars from the warmer climate ,The Carpets are in good condition throughout , As this car was originally supplied to Brazil and only Brazil this is 1 of only 30 examples (some say 300 were made but so far we can only prove 30 were made) We have tried to take as many close up pictures so please look carefully as the camera can pick up things we have not seen and show we have nothing to hide
