You are bidding on a very fine old french 4/4 violin, made by Breton. Labeled and stamped. The instrument is in finest ready to play condition with some tears and wears but no cracks. Great quality master made boxwood set up, new strings and new bridge.
The violin has an excellent high to medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of narrow flamed maple with matched sides. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original varnish of golden amber color remains in good condition. The whole length of the violin is 592 mm and the back 356 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm.
