After graduation, he studied under his father and later became a disciple of Kōsai Miyagawa (宮川香斎) in 1980. His artistic achievements were recognized with the Saga Prefectural Board of Education Award in 1984, and the Saga Prefectural Assembly Chairman’s Award in 1985.
