Carlo Bavagnoli, Federico Fellini, Antonio Baldini - Gente di Trastevere - 1963

FANTASTIC, still HIGHLY UNDERRATED and UNDERVALUED Italian photobook from the 60ties and MY HIGHEST RECOMMANDATION. Very impressive pictures about the people from "Travestere", a part of Rome, which is considered the most original and authentic quarter of the city. VERY SCARCE VINTAGE EDITION from 1963 - not (!) to mix with the much more later edition from 1989. THIS IS THE LAST EXCLUSIVE PHOTOBOOK AUCTION by 5Uhr30.com in 2025 - with more than 100 great lots from my personal collection and from recent acquisitions. Carlo Bavagnoli is an Italian photographer who was born in 1932. Numerous key galleries and museums such as Galerija Fotografija have featured Carlo Bavagnoli's work in the past. Antonio Baldini (1889-1962) was a writer, journalist and essayist Italian. The two libraries are named: the library of Santarcangelo and one of the state libraries of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and Tourism, based in Rome. Federico Fellini Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI (1920-1993) was an Italian filmmaker. He is known for his distinctive style, which blends fantasy and baroque images with earthiness. He is recognized as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time. His films have ranked highly in critical polls such as that of Cahiers du Cinéma and Sight and Sound, which lists his 1963 film 8+1⁄2 as the 10th-greatest film. Like always 5Uhr30.com guarantees detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% transport protection, 100% transport insurance, and of course, combined shipping - worldwide. Arnoldo Mondadori Editori, Milan. 1963. Hardcover in linen. 260 x 290 mm. 130 pages. Photos (in black and white): Carlo Bavagnoli. Edited by: Grafiche STEP. Foreword: Antonio Baldini. Text: Federico Fellini. Text in Italian. Condition: Book outside with little trace of use, a bit rubbed at the top of the spine and at the top right corner of the front. Inside with stamp and handwritten name on second title page, first four pages stronger used with some bigger stains, all photo pages clean or with temporary small spots; on the penultimate page, there are remnants of a partially torn-off sticker (where the sticker was removed, there is superficial paper loss). Lacks the jacket. Overall very good condition. Wonderful, very scarce Italian photobook. 5Uhr30.com says MANY THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT THIS YEAR - making our single-seller photobook auctions on Catawiki so successful. Ecki Heuser & team are wishing ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOURS for 2026.
