Keramik - Hisanori Tsuji - „Kuchikudo Ajari sitzende Figur“ — Einzigartige Keramikskulptur von Hisanori Tsuji — Japan — 21. - 2025, Reiwa-Ära

Description This ceramic sculpture “Kuchikudo Ajari Seated Figure” is an exceptional one-of-a-kind artwork by Japanese ceramic artist Hisanori Tsuji. The piece represents an Ajari — a high-ranking Buddhist monk — whose sacred body, after long years of ascetic practice and passing, has decayed and hollowed over time. Inside this hollow, a monk of the present era continues rigorous training, expressing the theme of spiritual discipline carried across generations. The eroded rock-like texture, dramatic crackle glaze, and cave-like openings create a powerful sense of presence. A small monk standing quietly inside adds profound symbolism and emotional depth. The sculpture was selected for exhibition at the Zento Exhibition (All Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition). Background of Creation Tsuji comes from a family deeply connected to Buddhism and has personally completed the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage. The prayers, monks, and silence he encountered on the pilgrimage strongly inspired this work. He describes its creation as something that came to him as if spiritually guided. This inspiration led directly to the submission of the piece to the Zento Exhibition, where it was selected for exhibition. About the Artist Hisanori Tsuji (Japan) is a contemporary ceramic artist known for his narrative-driven sculptural works.
