If an item exceeds the specified size or weight, it may be shipped in multiple packages. ----- Signed Abe Heishiro (1929-2013) Born on March 10, 1929, in Kawatsura, Akita, Abe Heishirō grew up as the youngest of eleven siblings and was raised closely with the Takahashi family. After graduating from Yokote Technical High School in 1947, he apprenticed under Takahashi Heijirō and later worked in Ōyu producing tea canisters and modern kokeshi bases. He joined the National Police Reserve in 1950, returned home in 1952, and resumed wood-turning while gradually beginning to make his own kokeshi. Encouraged by collectors, he revived the long-discontinued Taiichirō and Yonekichi styles, completing an acclaimed restoration of the Yonekichi type in 1967. He continued researching and recreating classic Kijiyama forms throughout his life, working even during illness, until his passing on February 25, 2013, at age 85. Set of 2 18-27cm Total 837g (Y1327)
